The Newcastle United Blog | Newcastle Back To Winning Ways With 4-1 Win At Fulham - The Newcastle United Blog

Newcastle picked up their second win of the campaign with a satisfying 4-1 win at Fulham. The lads dominated all afternoon with almost 70% possession while outshooting the hosts 19 to 4 to move to 7th in the Premier League table.

There were no changes after a dominant first half had Newcastle in firm control. Within minutes, Willock came close to making it 4-0 as his shot from a tight angle was pushed around the post by Bernd Leno.

In the 50th minute, Schar tried to pick out Murphy down the left. The ball bounced off the Fulham defender and onto Murphy’s chest. The winger pushed forward and flashed his shot just wide of the far post. Wilson was bearing down and a cross may have proved more fruitful.

Newcastle made it 4-0 in the 57th minute. Murphy took the ball down the left before playing Willock in behind. The midfielder rolled a cross to the back post where Almiron had a tap-in. Howe replaced Bruno with Anderson after the goal which dropped Longstaff into the deeper role.

Howe made his second change in the 65th minute withdrawing Wilson for Ryan Fraser. The switch pushed Murphy into the middle with Fraser on the left. Fulham’s first shot arrived soon after from a corner as Tosin Adarabioyo’s header was glanced wide.

Newcastle kept hold of the ball spraying it around the pitch with Fulham having been resigned to defeat. Howe made a triple change with 8 minutes remaining. Matt Targett, Jamaal Lascelles, and Jamal Lewis came on for Trippier, Schar, and Burn.

Anderson, who has had the ball in the box frequently, was able to wrangle himself free and get to the byline. He rolled in a cross to the back post that was just too far for Almiron and dribbled out for a goal-kick.

Newcastle couldn’t keep the clean sheet as Fulham struck in the final minutes. Neeskens Kebano got down the left and floated a cross into the area. Bobby Decordova-Reid got past Lewis and headed the ball in to make it 4-1.

That’s the way it would end as Newcastle grab all three points. This was some match for Garang Kuol to witness as he was in the away end this afternoon.

Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match In Dominant Win At Fulham?

Fanstastic performance, brace from miggy could of easly been a hatrick, whole team played fantastic, great 4-1 win great 3 points, 6th in table, on to brentford at home, HWTL!!!

Fantastic win, could have been 6 but happy with the dominant performance and result.

Trossard only the third visiting player to score a hattrick at Anfield. Anyone have him captained? Or even triple captained? Big points if so.

Get in! HWTL! Great result and a peach of a goal by Miggy, up to 6th I think. 😀

Shame about not getting a clean sheet but it was still a good move by EH to make the subs!

Cairney made a big difference for them, always rated him.

Shame we didn’t keep a clean sheet, but it certainly game me a chance of beating Dubai Micky in our H2H this week with Pope and Trippier being stripped of their bonuses for his team. Every cloud and all that…

Ah just seen table, still 7th 🙂

Dingo use the prison soap you keep as a souvenior or are you a scrubber because you’ve don’t like having showers after your horrific experiences while in prison

We might even be only 2nd last on MOTD tonight! 🙂

Great that the new youngster, Kuol, was able to experience the energy and passion of Newcastle’s brilliant away supporters!

Wish Miggy could have bagged his hattrick. Imagine how big his smile would have been then?! Cheshire Cat levels of happiness!

Kings Head for us apparently.

Just one jump no need for trampoline Taco. Don’t forget your lube on your way to your favourite ‘restaurant’

Woah, calm down there with that MOTD prediction. Don’t let this win go to your head sir.

Sure would be nice if Isak and ASM were healthy for Brentford. Get a little momentum now. Nice, easy win. We deserved one. Only one loss in 8 games – and it shouldn’t have been a loss.

All played well, miggy was class Murphy and willock played well for the majority of the game as did longstaff, and a few on here criticising Murphy, looked a lot better today than he has done, and let’s not forget these are bench players in while ASM Isaac Bruno and Wilson get back to full fitness some mistakes yes but 10 out of 10 for effort 7 or 8 out of 10 for performance, great result against a banana skin team at their gaff,Roll on next week

Great result, simple as that! Good to see Anderson getting minutes on the pitch too.

Can’t see any good reason for any negativity today, who wouldn’t have taken 4-1 before kick off?

Trossards teeth are definitely false but look expensive. Toons fans bad must have a poundstretcher version

E I E I O up the Premier League we go 😀

Someone asked what happened after 68 minutes. Bruno went off not long before.

And yet again the toon army 100% well done all that travelled, especially under difficult circumstances with rail strike fantastic and 100%best fans in the league

Joy doesn’t last long for you does it Jedi?

As a matter of fact I don’t like Taco Bell, their Taco’s are cheap and substandard, a bit like your insults!

Taco. It is a great result and a good, professional performance. I am not getting on the bandwagon of how well Miggy played (and a couple of others). IMHO Miggy still hasn’t got a right foot – I think both of his goals were harder to do as he used his left and the right was the better option. That will cost us in the long run. Very happy with the win. Not being negative. Just being realistic that the areas where we can get a big step improvement, are still where we thought before the match.

Toon army were amazing…as always!!

Great away win, right now I look at the team playing the ball around and I’m calm, under the Pie Eater I hated it.

Of course Almiron was brilliant today but great to see our boys Bruno and Wilson back. Game changed after Bruno left. Willock looking somewhat back to his best today as well really impressed me. And Trippier might be my favourite NUFC captain of all time

No one in their right mind would eat at Taco Bell, their Mexican food is shite. I’m with you on that Taco.

Great win at Craven Cottage today. A few raised eyebrows at the team Howe put out, but totally justified by the result. Willock and Longstaff both put in good performances. Big Joe will be keen to get back in the side. Competition for places can only improve the team. HWTL.

Miggy is never going to be a world-beater and will probably be sold next season or be a squad player at best. But you just gotta love him he plays with a smile on his face and gives it everything he’s got.

How many goals does Grealish have?

Migs, I for one have said the kid has the heart and desire and runs his heart out, I have always wished he would get more goals. I’m happy for him as I know he has it in the tank, don’t care if he only ever scores with his left as long as he takes some chances. Today showed us and himself what he can do.

I’d still like to see Miggy in a central no.10 role for few games

Lot of doomsters and the negative brigade predicted a loss today.

Mainly the usual suspects who mostly spout rubbish – yeez need to apologise to the blog for ya mischief and poor football knowledge. Take a week off and perhaps read the Beano Book of Football to get ya sells up to speed.

Good victory today by the lads – come on the Toom

Superb result and fantastic performance by the Toon today, all the lads played their part, but special mention to Miggy and the much maligned Jacob Murphy who had a fantastic game, and that will do the lads confidence a power of good, roll on next week HWTL

Our total passes today were 602 to Fulhams 277. That’s probably 400 more than under our last two managers .

Murphy saw the runner coming and still lost him he hasn’t got the brains to play for a top club like Newcastle

Question for FPL experts out there: where does the Fantasy Football server get its game and stats feed? Joe Willock, according to my own eyes and also ESPN, had 2 assists: on the first goal scored by Wilson and the 4th scored by Miggy. Yet FPL has only awarded him points for 1 assist…?

I have continued over the last two years to have quarterly checkups on my stage 4 prostate cancer. The treatment (hormone injections every 3 months plus Xtandi medication daily) has managed to slow the spread of the cancer.

I am just so pleased that we have now been taken over by rich and ambitious owners and Eddie Howe is now the head coach.

It is as it is.

My cancer was first diagnosed in April, 2011 and it became stage four in late December, 2016

That's when it spread through the bones to several areas of the body.

My treatment has also included radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

I remain in awe of the kind and effective treatment I have received from the Doctors and Nurses.

While stage four prostate cancer is terminal, I hope to be around for a while yet.

Let's also hope Newcastle can shock everybody this coming season with maybe even a top six finish!

It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.
