Welcome to the legendary world of Nerf! I’m Mihai Preda, Fun Labs’ studio head, and we’re very happy to be able to make a video game based on one of our favorite childhood (and honestly, adult) toys.

Nerf Legends is an FPS, you can use Nerf shock wave in the future of science fiction. You are a hopeful contestant and have participated in Nerf Trials, a glove-style competition that strengthens shock waves. The blaster has been upgraded and is fun to use. Your goal is to defeat the robots, puzzles, and ultimately Nerf Masters through a winding route. The focus of the story is to prove your ability with a blaster gun and confront the mysterious master at the end of the game. Doing so will win you the ultimate reward for being crowned the legend of Nerf.

We drew inspiration from the shock wave and created some unique game elements. For example, anyone who has played Nerf Blaster before knows that this will eventually cause foam darts to be scattered on your floor. We like that this is a game concept and real life. When you launch darts in the game, they will be scattered on the ground, and you must quickly pick them up to replenish your ammunition. This idea of ​​blasting and picking up darts has produced some interesting game strategies. For example, when an opponent fires at you, they are basically giving you ammunition, which you can pick up and fight back, and vice versa.

We also look for inspiration from playing the real Nerf shockwave to other video games. Many people in our studio play various shooting games and other games. No game can directly inspire our work in Nerf Legends, but the FPS type provides many excellent games worthy of reflection.

We also have many unique game mechanics, which you don’t see often in other FPS games. Early in the prototyping phase, someone wanted to add a trampoline-like bounce mat, and everyone immediately liked it. We played with this mechanism quite a bit. Sometimes they are just used to jump to a higher platform or another part of the level, sometimes they are used for puzzles. For example, imagine trying to hit an opponent or other target while jumping in the air or using a springboard to jump in the middle of the action. This gameplay eventually led to the idea of ​​putting the trampoline on its side, and we created what we call an accelerator. The accelerator pushes you into the level like a cannonball, so it becomes a new way of traversal. These mechanisms in turn inspired some of our level designs.

In many ways, Shockwave is the star of the game, but there is no template for what the world of Nerf should look like. This gives us a lot of freedom to move into some interesting directions. In Nerf Legends, you can climb city walls, pass through bays full of futuristic Viking ships, catapult between cliffs in jungle mountains, pass through huge spaceports, and more. There are many types of levels, and none of them are taken seriously. For us, this is all about the happiness factor and making levels that are fun to use Shockwave. We hope players are surprised and happy about this.

Nerf Legends has a complete single player campaign, but there are also many online multiplayer game modes. Solo Nerf Out and Team Nerf Out are our deathmatch and team deathmatch, but there is no death. Players in the game will be marked once they are defeated, hence the name. Nerf Siege is the king of our mountain game mode, and then the Golden Dart mode. Golden Dart is like Capture the Flag, but it has an interesting twist. This is a team game mode where players score points by marking other players, but if they grab a golden dart and use it to explode and hit a target moving on the map, the team scores. Players with golden darts will lose their darts if they are launched or marked, so teammates must try to protect them.

The Nerf brand and Nerf Blaster are indeed the perfect toys for video games. We have tried our best to be faithful to Nerf's core values ​​and amplify all the fun of playing with Demons in real life, while breaking boundaries to create a higher Nerf experience that is impossible in real life.
