The International Olympic Committee subsequently offered the Olympic Games to Whistler in Canada, but they also refused due to the change of government after the election. Salt Lake City offered to host the Olympics, but the International Olympic Committee was still disturbed by Denver's refusal. It refused and chose Innsbruck, the host city in 1964, as an alternative.
